Ever Customized Your FitKicks Shoes?

If you, like many of the fabulous FitKicks fans out there, take more than just a passing interest in all the latest shoe and sneaker fashions, one trend that may have caught your eye is the growing popularity of customizing shoes. Maybe brightening up an old pair of sneakers by swapping out the old laces for some cool new LED ones or giving a pair of fit kicks fitness shoes a makeover by trimming them with some pretty ribbons or fabric paint. There are many fun and creative ways to give an old pair of shoes a new look and a whole new lease of life.

FitKicks are Originals

Lightweight shoes, such as Fit Kicks for women or FitKicks for kids, present rich opportunities for crafty shoe customizers. These fitkicks can easily be given a fresh new look with scraps of material, adding fabric and ornaments, or simply decorating them with markers. Most shoe customizers start out by upgrading an old pair of shoes that might otherwise have reached the end of its wearable life. However, more experienced customizers may buy fitness footwear or other kinds of shoes specifically to customize them. They may even treat themselves to several pairs since their customized creations are limited only by their imaginations.

Getting Crafty with FitKicks Shoes

Designers have been quick to pick up on the trend for customized shoes. Over the coming months we can expect to see more and more new shoes of all kinds hitting the stores decorated with lace, buttons and cute metal and plastic ornaments. Meanwhile, clever crafters are already ahead of the trend as they create fabulous and uniquely decorated shoes from their old pairs of fit kick sneakers and other types of footwear that they already had in their closet.

Have you ever customized a pair of Fitkicks shoes? If so, were you pleased with the results? We would love to see your creative work, so why not send us a photo of shoes or share it on Instagram and send us a link so we can admire your work.

Size Charts

Sizes for Fitkicks shoes and Sidekicks shoes are set by the manufacturers.  Here are their published size recommendations:

sizes for fitkicks shoes and sidekicks shoes

There are no other sizes of authentic Fitkicks shoes and Sidekicks shoes, though you may see them listed in other marketplaces with different size equivalents.  Those changes are usually made by the retailer and represent their opinions.

CC Sidewalk prefers to list the manufacturers’ size recommendations as the standard.  But we do offer our own opinions.

Sizes for Fitkicks Shoes

The Fit kicks shoe upper is mostly spandex and quite stretchy.  However, the toe patch is microfiber and does not stretch much.  We recommend one size larger if you are near the top of a size bracket, and definitely the larger size if you are in-between.  The ankle opening is high on the foot.  The shoes are true to size as long as your feet and ankles are pretty much average (aka medium).  If they are wider, thicker, sensitive to tightness in the toes, or otherwise have a disease process such as diabetes, then choose one size larger.  The larger size will not be loose or floppy.

Sizes for Sidekicks Shoes

The Sidekicks shoes are meant to cover a larger size range, and the upper openings are elastic with reasonable stretch.  The Energy/Glitter line offers the most stretchable uppers, followed by Original and Animal.  The Patent line is pretty stiff and does not stretch much at all.  If your feet are wider, thicker, sensitive to tightness in the toes, or otherwise have a disease process such as diabetes, then choose one size larger.  The larger size may be a little bit loose.
